It's all French brasserie, from the earthenware wine vessels to the crusty baguettes for your ham and cheese, er, jambon et fromage. Inside it's all about up-to-date dishes with a smidge of the Asian here and a dash of the Latin American Outside it's all about cedar shingles and flowering vines. ![]() There's good food - think crab cakes, seared ahi tuna, and coconut-cream pie. ![]() There's romance - think low lights and the color red. Eastsiders love the northern Italian dishes, some of which are made with produce from the restaurant's own garden. Puget Sound views complement the impeccably fresh and well-prepared seafood. It's French blended with the Pacific Northwest - in terms of the food, the service, and the feel of the place. The dishes, like the beige-and-gold color scheme, are classic with a little sparkle: pheasant is paired with apples, champagne, and sauerkraut lamb is served with pesto. You're as likely to find a glass chandelier as you are log furniture. ![]() No two spaces are alike thanks to eclectic paint effects, fabrics, and fittings. Public areas are low-key, guest rooms are commodious, and breakfast is a buffet. The excellent service is rivaled only by the Olympic Peninsula location and the way-cool amenities - CD and DVD players, Jacuzzis, fireplaces. $$-$$$ Colette's Bed & Breakfast, near Port Angeles. The "W" stands for "welcoming," not to mention "wicked comfortable," and "way cool." Just because the furniture is contemporary doesn't mean that such noble traditions as fresh flowers and free morning newspapers must become obsolete. Sleek lines, modern furniture, and big windows allow your eyes to focus on what's really important: the sea and mountain views. $$$-$$$$ Inn at Langley, Langley (Whidbey Island). French and Italian fabrics? Free wine in the early evening? Why, it's a little bit of Europe in the middle of Seattle. An estimable dame adorned with marble and draped with textiles. ![]()
